Fittingly Sew
Sewing Software

Freedom to Design

Fittingly Sew is primarily a program for people who want to draft their own patterns, and it has some very powerful tools to start you off, with a set of basic sloper patterns and templates which you can use as a starting point for your original creations.

You can also draft your own patterns starting from rectangular blocks, just as you would with pencil, paper and ruler. The on-screen editing and the use of the Clipboard makes the construction process accurate and simple to do.

Unlike most pattern making software of its price range, Fittingly Sew's emphasis is on freedom to design rather than on ready-made garments. The built-in pattern and body blocks in Fittingly Sew are all women's, but you can adapt any of them to use for men's or children's clothes, or even for dolls.

New features in version 3 include construction lines with annotations, notches, buttons, DXF export, and a host of other improvements.

Reliability

People who find that ready made patterns don't fit well are able to enjoy comfortable well-fitting clothes because of the way that Fittingly Sew can develop patterns based on virtually any body shape. We’ve had great feedback from customers who had been unable to get properly fitting patterns from other sources. The extensive set of body measurements used by Fittingly Sew and the easy to follow measurement diagrams ensure that even unusual body shapes are catered for.

Fittingly Sew tests the body measurements that you enter by constructing sloper garments. Basing patterns on a tested sloper guarantees a good fit.

Features

  • Full control in placing darts, tucks and pleats.

  • Specify seam allowances on individual seams.

  • A variety of garment templates are included.

  • There are various styles of flat collars, also stand collars and two-piece collars that you can adjust as required.

  • Position pieces on straight of grain, on bias, or place on fold.

  • Full size patterns may be printed out on whatever paper your Windows printer or plotter takes. Registration marks enable pages to be joined exactly.

Templates

Templates are patterns which adapt to the measurements in a sloper file - or to a standard size. They are short cuts which remove the need for some of the more difficult pattern construction procedures. The templates include:

  • A shoulder princess line dress - this saves the user from having to adapt the bodice block to a princess line: it automatically transfers the dart, converts the darts to seams, rounds the edge of the seam, converts the waist darts of the skirt to seams, cuts the skirt block, and joins it to the bodice block.

  • A waistless shift dress - this has had the waist dart on the bodice block transferred to the side seam, the darts removed from the skirt blocks, the bodice joined to the skirt and the waist shaped to produce a dress pattern block with no waist seam.

  • Pleated trousers (pants) - these have had pleats added to the waistline, and waistband and pocket pieces drafted for a side-seam pocket.

  • A basic blouse - the sleeve sloper has been adapted from a body-fitting block to a sleeve block, the sleeve-head modified, and the armhole seams of the front and back bodice pieces adapted to fit the sleeve head.

  • An A-Line Skirt - the basic skirt sloper for a straight two-dart skirt has been modified to a single dart A-line skirt by transferring the outer dart fullness to the hemline. A waist band is included.

  • A One-Dart Skirt - in this version, the basic skirt sloper has been modified to a one-dart version by transferring the outer dart fullness to the inner dart, keeping the side seam straight.

  • A variety of collars which you can adapt to the body pieces you have designed. There are flat collars, stand collars and two-piece collars…
